In the past legislature (2005-2009) members of the European Parliament have joined forces across political groups and Member States to support EU citizens in their fight against cancer. "MEPs Against Cancer" (MAC) was initiated by the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) who also provided the Secretariat. MAC is said to relaunch in late 2010.

A new initiative has been launched by ECPC in June 2010 which is called FACE - "Forum Against Cancer Europe". The new FACE is committed to continue the fruitful dialogue of the cancer patient community with Members of the European Parliament, the EU Commission and the EU Council. It aims to promote action against cancer as an EU priority and harnessing European health policy to that end - across all topics that concern cancer patients, including cancer research, prevention, inequalities, access to care, cross-border healthcare and many others.
