MAC members met with Health Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou on 9 December 2008 to discuss a new cancer strategy for Europe. 2008 has been a momentous year to get the fight against cancer back on the European Union’s political agenda and MEPs against Cancer have been a driving force. The MAC meeting will follow up the Parliament’s Resolution and the Council Conclusions on cancer and hear from Mrs Vassiliou about Commission plans to help member states reduce the burden of cancer.
